About This Event
Creation Sessions are where we gather to collaborate, dream, and build the ingredients of a new ABUT show — before there's a script, before there's design. First we dream.
Through theatre exercises, improv, research, brainstorming, and creative story-making, we generate the raw material that eventually becomes one of our one-of-a-kind productions. You can write, act, craft, listen, throw out wild ideas — whatever pulls you in.
What we're working on: Revolutionary Era New Haven (working title). Our next original piece, inspired by revolutionary New Haven's historical and radical spirit. We'll explore characters like statesman Roger Sherman; Jethro Luke, New Haven's earliest Black property owner; and Benedict Arnold, the infamous traitor. The show will be performed at a site-specific location in New Haven, TBD.
Want to host one for your group? ABUT runs Creation Sessions for classes, book clubs, religious groups, neighborhood committees, theatre troupes — we'll come to you. Email rachel@abrokenumbrella.org.
Art Walk weekend activities are supported by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.
